Survive the Future - Climate Extinction Game

Massive game simulation at the Brave New World Conference in Leiden in 2018.

We've designed a massive role play game about the future, climate change, robopocalypse, immortality and space travel from scratch.

Mitigation, adaptation, investment in AI robots or basic research? Dependent on the choices of the different countries, the future of our planet drastically changes over the next 100 years.

Facilitated with each around 50 participants at Brave New World conference in Leiden and at the LearningXDesign Conference https://lxd.org/ in 2018.

Climate Change, Robopocalypse, Space Travel, Immortality?

The character cards of the game event.

The back-end of our game mechanism was designed in excel. We were a team of around 10 people facilitating the massive events. In every of the three game rounds, the country leaders of the 10 countries had to bring the filled-out sheets with their final decisions to the game masters. The game masters transferred the data into the mechanism sheet and got the new calculated situation of each country. On behalf of these numbers, each country got the new starting point for the next rounds. The whole in-between calculation process of the game was around 10min per round.

Game mechanism prototype test in a smaller round at the Center for Innovation, Leiden University in 2018.

A whole new planet was designed with a total of 10 different countries. The country descriptions, interests, functions and goals were all designed in loose analogies to our planet.
